Deep in the forests of the Cameroon, where the indigenous Baka people have lived in harmony with nature for generations, a remarkable transformation is taking place — one that is changing the lives of more than 100 children and bringing renewed hope to an entire community.
Through a collaborative effort between the Rowland Ward Foundation and Mayo Oldiri Safaris, the Primary Public School in Tempe-Piste, one of the remote forest schools serving the Pygmy Baka community, has been completely restored.
For years, the school building stood in disrepair. Time, weather, and lack of resources had left the structure unsafe and no longer habitable for the children who depended on it for their education. Crumbling walls and damaged roofing created enormous challenges for both students and teachers.

Recognizing the urgent need, the Rowland Ward Foundation partnered with Mayo Oldiri Safaris to undertake a full transformation of the school, and the results are extraordinary.

By investing in schools, healthcare, clean water, and community infrastructure, the Rowland Ward Foundation helps build stronger partnerships with indigenous communities, fosters respect for wildlife and natural resources, and encourages local people to become long-term stewards of the land they call home.
As we look ahead into 2026-2027, we ask for your continued support to help us sustain and expand the work of the Rowland Ward Foundation. Your generosity directly fuels conservation, community development, and fair-chase initiatives around the world. One meaningful way to make an ongoing impact is by becoming a monthly supporter—providing steady, reliable funding that allows us to plan ahead and respond where the need is greatest. Together, we can ensure this important work continues well into the future.
