Dr. Rolf Baldus

Dr. Rolf D. Baldus is a respected economist, hunter, writer, and conservationist with a distinguished career dedicated to global conservation and sustainable hunting. Actively engaged in international hunting and wildlife preservation, Rolf plays a prominent role in the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC), where he has advised the president and led the Tropical Game Commission. His expertise is frequently sought by wildlife administrations in Africa and Central Asia, where he provides valuable advisory support.

Throughout his career, Rolf has held various prestigious roles, including ten years managing a family business, teaching at a university, and several decades of service at the German Chancellery and the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. For thirteen years, he assisted the chief warden of Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve, contributing to wildlife conservation efforts under a government-backed initiative with the Tanzania Wildlife Authority.

An avid hunter, Rolf enjoys participating in international hunting safaris and manages a hunting area near his home, where he practices community forestry. His work is deeply focused on sustainable hunting as a means of wildlife conservation and on advancing community-based natural resource management.

Rolf has authored multiple books and numerous articles on hunting and conservation, many of which have been translated from German into English. He currently resides near Bonn, Germany.
